How to apply or remove a Classification Label manually

In cases where users need to apply restrictions selectively, WorkDrive offers Manual classification through classification labels. This feature allows users to manually apply preconfigured labels to specific files and enforce restrictions or warnings only on those files. This feature provides flexibility by enabling users to secure individual files based on their context or content.

Once the admin has configured a classification label (For manual classification), members with Edit or higher permission can manually assign or remove a classification label to a file. Learn how to configure a classification label in WorkDrive

Apply a classification label manually

  1. Select a file to which you want to apply a classification label and right-click it. This will open the context menu with the list of options.
  2. Choose Associate Classification Label and pick an appropriate label from the available list.

Once you apply a classification label, all the corresponding restrictions or warnings associated with it are automatically enforced. These restrictions might include:
  1. Disabling external sharing.
  2. Preventing file downloads, copy, and print actions for files.
  3. Displaying warnings when sharing the file externally.

Remove the associated Classification Label

  1. Click on the Classification Label name in the file listing page. This will open the show info panel.

  2. Scroll-down and click on the Add or remove Classification Label option.
  3. Uncheck the selected classification label.

This ensures that sensitive files remain secure and access is limited to comply with the organization's policies and any applicable legal or regulatory requirements.
