WorkDrive Sync and TrueSync are desktop applications to back up and sync files from your WorkDrive web app to your system, and vice-versa.
When you add files to the sync folder, they will be synced to the web app instantly. However, there are certain cases where you cannot add files to a folder. Let's take a look at them below.
The most common reason is not having the required permission in the selected folder.
To add files, you must have at least Edit access in case of a folder, and Editor role in case of a Team Folder.
Can't add files to the app folder
Sync and TrueSync have a primary folder where all your WorkDrive items are stored. This is known as the root folder.
The root folder is unique to the desktop apps and has no equivalent location in the web app. This is why you can’t add a file directly here, as it will cause an error. When you try to add files directly to the root folder, you will get an error message and the upload will fail immediately.
Warning:
For WorkDrive Sync: You can override the application’s permissions by changing the folder properties. While this will allow you to add a file or folder on the root folder, the upload won’t take place and an error will be shown on Sync’s notifications.
Can't add files to the Shared with Me Folder
The Shared with Me folder in Zoho WorkDrive has all the files and folders shared with you by other users. You need at least Edit access to add files or make changes in a shared folder.
You cannot drag-and-drop files or create a file or folder directly into the Shared with Me root folder from your system.
For WorkDrive TrueSync
When you install Zoho WorkDrive TrueSync on your desktop, all the files and folders in your Zoho WorkDrive account will be made available in the virtual drive. All the files and folders that have been shared with you can be found in WorkDrive TrueSync > Shared with Me.
For WorkDrive Sync
On installing WorkDrive Sync, your shared files and folders will be synced by default. If you selectively sync your files, the unchecked folders won’t be added.
