TrueSync vs. Sync vs. Genie
WorkDrive has multiple companion applications to improve your team’s productivity and collaboration process.
TrueSync
TrueSync is an application that houses all your files on a virtual drive, without consuming any storage on your device. Anytime you open an online file, it gets downloaded to TrueSync. Any changes you make will be synced to your WorkDrive account.
- TrueSync is the go-to app if you are concerned about hard drive storage. All files are saved exclusively online. You can choose to save important files and folders for offline usage by right-clicking them and selecting the Available Offline option.
- Since TrueSync doesn’t download any actual file data while syncing, it’s lighter on your machine’s memory and storage usage. This ensures the application runs smoothly, even on systems with lower configurations.
- You can connect multiple WorkDrive accounts to your TrueSync application. This is especially useful if you’re part of multiple teams and wish to have a unified hub for all your data. Learn more about linking multiple accounts with your TrueSync app.
- Supported OSs: Windows and MacOS
Sync
Similar to TrueSync, this desktop application syncs your WorkDrive files with your computer and vice versa. All your chosen WorkDrive files and folders will be downloaded to your computer. You can make changes to those files while offline, and they will be synced to your account the next time you’re online.
- Sync is a good choice if you’re looking to quickly access your files and edit them—whether or not an internet connection is established.
- You can use Sync to keep backups of your WorkDrive account on multiple computers.
- Supported OSs: Windows, MacOS, and Linux.
Genie
Genie is an extension that helps you import files (such as documents, images, and videos) to your device and quickly work on them using your system tools. With Genie, you eliminate the hassle of having to manually download files from WorkDrive and open them in your editing programs.
- Genie helps you open and edit your WorkDrive files using system tools. Any changes made to the files will be synced immediately to your WorkDrive account.
- WorkDrive supports previews for 220 file formats. With Genie, you can preview any file format, provided you have the right app installed on your system. Use the Genie app to open and check files in formats not supported by the WorkDrive web application. Here’s a list of preview formats supported by WorkDrive.
