How to merge documents on Zoho Forms submission
Overview
Zoho Writer’s Document Merge feature integrates seamlessly with Zoho Forms to automate the generation of personalized documents (like certificates, quotes, contracts, or confirmation letters) each time a form is submitted.
Steps
Create Merge Template :
Open Writer, and go to Create New > Merge Template -> Design from scratch, to open a blank merge template.
Go to Automate Tab -> Configure --> Select Data Source, and choose your data from Zoho Form.
Setup Fields in Template
Add the main form fields and sub-form fields into the template
Under When to merge, choose 'On Zoho Forms submission'
- Customize Post submit actions under 'Choose output'.
For example, under 'Merge Output Settings', select 'Allow respondents to download the document'
Customize Thank you Page & Redirect URL
You can customize your thank you message under Thank You Page in Acknowledgement & configure URL to be redirected after form submit . Click on Zoho Forms to configure Redirect URL and Type your thank you message under Thank You Page in Acknowledgement & Redirects and click Save.
From now on, whenever a respondent submits the form, their data will automatically merge with your Writer template, allowing them to download the generated document.
Additional Note:
Limitation : Allow respondent to download document option is disabled
If your form has a payment field, you won't be able to choose the output option as Allow respondent to download the document. This is because Zoho Forms will redirect to the payment page for payment process and we won't be able to redirect to Writer's page to give an option to download the document.
