How to add symbols in your document

Working with Symbols

Overview

When you are working on scientific and research related papers and theses, you will have to use symbols. More often than not, you cannot input these symbols from the keyboard. So, Writer offers an in-built symbols library to help you overcome this.

Steps

  1. Go to Insert tab --> Symbols. The Symbols dialog 
  2. Under Pictures & Tables, click Symbol. The Symbols dialog will open.
  3. Writer provides with a wide range of symbol sets such as, alphanumeric symbols, emojis, math symbols, Braille, currency, and so on. Go to the appropriate category and select the required symbol. You can also use the search option to find the required symbol.
  4. Click Insert. The symbol will be inserted in your document.
