How to insert and configure signer fields in Zoho Writer

Overview  

Zoho Writer provides a variety of signer fields that allow signers to input required information such as signatures, initials, names, dates, checkboxes, radio buttons, and more. These fields can be placed on documents to guide signers through the signing process and ensure all necessary data is collected. Signer fields can be customized, set as required or optional, and conditionally displayed based on user input.

These fields can be placed across documents & templates: regular documents, fillable templates, merge templates, and sign templates

Prerequisites  

  1. A Zoho Sign account integrated with Zoho Writer

Available Signer Fields


You can insert the following signer fields:

Category
Fields
Signature fields
Signature, Initial, Stamp, Image
You can add up to a maximum of 15 signers.
Basic info
Full Name, Email, Sign Date, Company, Job Title
Input fields
Textfield, Custom Date, Checkbox, Radio, Dropdown, Attachments

Each field can be linked to a specific signer and includes customizable settings such as placeholder text, required/optional status, default values, and more.

Steps

  1. Open your sign template, merge template, or fillable template in Zoho Writer.
  2. To insert signer fields:
    1. Go to Fields > Signer Fields or Automate > Configure if it's a sign template.
  3. In the Signer Fields panel:
    1. Click Add Signer to create signers.
    2. Select a signer and click a field to insert it into the document.
  4. To set field properties:
    Click on any inserted field to configure:
    1. Signer Details
    2. Specify if the field is optional
    3. Enable or Disable Resizing
    4. Placeholder text or default value (if applicable)
      Note: Each field type offers unique configuration options.
  5. Link Signer Fields
    Linking signer fields refers to assigning signature, name, and other role-based fields to a specific signer, either manually or automatically, so that each signer fills only the fields meant for them.

Troubleshooting  

Error/Symptom: Unable to send documents for sign collection
