What are Channel Permissions and how to view them?

Channel Permissions are a set of parameters that control what actions a member can perform in a channel. These permissions have the same action name across different channel levels, but they can be customized for each channel.
Note : Channel Permissions are available in Unlimited plan of Cliq and in Zoho One.
The channel permissions are classified into Configurations and Permissions.
  1. Reply modes - This option is used to configure and update the mode of reply in this channel.
Note: An org admin can configure the type of reply mode that can be set based on different channel levels. Only if the org admin has checked the "allow to modify" checkbox, the channel admin and moderators will have permission to change the reply mode for a channel. Members of a channel will not have permission to change the reply mode.
There are two types of reply modes - Normal Reply/Threads.
  1. Normal Reply - All the replies posted in the channel will be in the form of a stand-alone message and a user cannot use threaded replies.
  2. Threads - A user can reply to a normal message by creating a thread.
  1. Notify when users join or leave - This toggle button when enabled will post an info message and notify when a user joins or leaves the channel.
  2. Start a chat for any meeting - This option will let the channel admin decide whether messages in a meeting should be sent as a thread or as a message in the channel. The admin can also select 'Let the host decide', so the host of the meeting has the flexibility to choose.
The actions in channel permissions are as follows:
  1. Edit Channel Info: To edit channel name, image and description.
  2. Add participants: To add participants in the channel.
  3. Remove participants: To remove participants from the channel.
  4. Clear all messages: To clear the entire conversation history of the channel.
  5. Archive channel: To archive the channel.
  6. Delete channel: To delete the channel.
  7. Send messages: To send messages in channel.
  8. Reply in thread: To reply to a message in the form of threads.
  9. Mention users: To use @mentions for users, @mentions for teams (org groups) and #tags for channel.
  10. Leave channel: To leave the channel when needed.
  11. Host Broadcast: To broadcast session in the channel.
  12. Delete Messages posted by others: To restrict who can delete messages sent by others.
  13. Delete Message: To delete messages in the channel.
  14. Edit Message: To edit messages in the channel.
  15. Start/Schedule Meeting: To start or schedule a meeting on the channel
  16. Pin Messages: To pin messages in the channel.
  17. @all, @available mentions: To mention all users through @all (all participants of the channel) and @available (only participants whose status is available)
To view the channel permissions, you can do either of the following:
  1. Click the Channel image and select Permissions from the dialog window that appears.
  2. Click Actions in the bottom right of the channel and click Channel info. Select Permissions from the dialog window that appears.

Tip : You can create an announcement channel where only admins can share information by disabling the 'Send Messages' actions for all participants. A notification will be displayed on the channel informing participants that they can't post messages.
