What are Channel Permissions and how to view them?

What are channel permissions and how to view them

Channel permissions determine the actions that members can perform within a channel. While the permission names remain the same across different channel levels, you can customize permissions for individual channels.
NotesNote: Channel permissions are available in the Cliq Professional and Enterprise plans, as well as in Zoho One.
Channel permissions fall into two categories: Configurations and Permissions.

To view the channel permissions, you can do either of the following:
  • Click the channel image and select Permissions tab.
  • Click Actions (three dots) at the top-right of the channel, then click Channel info, and select Permissions tab.

Configurations

Reply Modes

This setting allows you to configure and update the reply mode for the channel.

Notes
Note:
  • An org admin can set which reply modes are allowed for each channel level.
  • Channel admins and moderators can change the reply mode only if the organization admin has enabled the "Allow to Modify" option.
  • Channel members cannot change the reply mode.
There are three types of reply modes:
  • Normal Reply – All replies appear as standalone messages. Threaded replies are not allowed.
  • Threads – Users can reply to a message by starting a thread.
  • Allow Both Users can reply directly to a message or start a new thread.

Notify when users join or leave.

When this toggle is enabled, an info message will be posted in the channel whenever a user joins or leaves.

Notify when a user is added or removed

When this toggle is enabled, an info message will be posted in the channel whenever a user is added or removed.

Meeting discussion in a chat

This setting lets you choose whether meeting conversations take place directly in the channel or within the meeting thread.
There are three types of meeting discussion options:
1. Continue in the channel – All messages sent during the meeting chat will appear directly in the channel.
2. Create a new thread – A thread with the meeting name will be created, and all conversations during the meeting will be posted inside that thread.
3. Let the host decide – The host can choose, while creating the meeting, whether the discussion should continue in the channel or take place in a new thread.

Custom emoji and sticker usage in channels

This setting lets you control how custom emojis and stickers can be used within the channel. You can choose from three options:
  1. Allow all – All custom emojis and stickers are permitted.
  2. Allow organization-level – Only organization-approved emojis and stickers can be used.
  3. Restrict – Usage of custom emojis and stickers is not allowed.

Permissions
