Cliq Notifications operate on three levels: Cliq-level, browser-level, and system-level notification settings. It is essential to enable notifications in the following order:
Cliq notification settings at three levels
Cliq-level notification settings:
To enable notifications in Cliq, refer to the following link. Browser-level notification settings:
Cliq notifications will be received only if both browser-level and Cliq-level notifications are enabled. If you've configured notification settings in Cliq but your browser doesn't allow notifications, you won't receive them. Here's how to enable browser notifications for commonly used browsers:
- Click the lock icon before the URL and set your permissions or click the kebab icon in the top-right corner of your Chrome browser.
- Go to Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Site Settings.
- Under Permissions, select Notifications, find the link (e.g. cliq.zoho.com) and click it to view all the permissions. Select Allow for Notifications.
- Select Safari from your header and navigate to Preferences -> Websites -> Notifications.
- In the list of websites, select Allow for the link (e.g. cliq.zoho.com).
- Select the menu icon in the top-right of your Firefox browser.
- Navigate to Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Permissions -> Notifications.
- Select Allow for the link (e.g. cliq.zoho.com).
System-level notifications:
Cliq notifications will be received only if you enable system-level, browser-level, and Cliq-level notifications. If you've configured settings in Cliq and the browser, but your system doesn't allow notifications, you won't receive them. Here's how to enable system notifications for commonly used operating systems:
- Go to Settings -> System -> Notifications.
- Turn on the notifications toggle for the browser (e.g., Google, Safari, etc.) or Cliq Desktop app.
- Navigate to System Preferences -> Notifications & Focus.
- Under the Notifications tab, select the browser or Cliq Desktop app and choose Allow Notifications.
- Navigate to Settings > Notifications.
- For the browser (e.g. Google, Safari) or Cliq Desktop app, enable notifications and notification popups.
Enable Zoho Cliq desktop users to allow notifications while in DND and focused mode:
To ensure you receive notifications from Zoho Cliq, please check whether Do Not Disturb (DND) or Focus assist is enabled and add Cliq as an allowed app.
For macOS users
Refer to this help doc for more detailed information. Minimum supported version: macOS Mojave (10.14)
- All settings mentioned below are available only in macOS Mojave or later.
Until macOS Big Sur (11.0)
- Only DND mode is supported.
Starting from macOS Monterey (12.0)
- Focus settings were introduced, with DND becoming a part of these settings.
- Users must include Cliq as an allowed app in DND or any custom focus mode created by the user. This can be done from system settings.
Note: Adding allowed apps is only supported in focus modes and not in the default DND available in earlier version. To add Zoho Cliq as allowed app in DND/Focus mode do the following:
- Go to System settings, and click on Focus.

Select Do not Disturb and click on Allowed Apps.

Click the '+' button.

Search for Cliq and click on the 'Add' button.

Note:
When you enable Do Not Disturb (DND) on your iPhone, the status will automatically sync to your Mac if both devices are logged in with the same Apple ID. To prevent this sync, you need to disable the 'Share across devices'.
Windows
Note: Refer to the following doc for more info.Windows 8.1 or older
Note: Cliq app version 1.6.3 and below are only supported on these operating systems. In older versions of Windows, notifications will not be shown by default if any of the following conditions are met:
- Other apps are running in full-screen mode.
- The machine is in presentation mode.
- Quiet time is configured.
In all other cases, notifications will be displayed.
Windows 10
Before the anniversary update: Windows 10 features the Quiet Hours setting, which functions as a Do Not Disturb mode to prevent notifications from being shown.
After the anniversary update: Windows 10 introduced the Focus Assist feature, which allows users to configure notifications based on a priority list. This gives users greater control over which notifications are displayed during Focus assist mode.
- Open Settings, click on Focus assist and select the Priority only option and click on Customize your priority list.
- Under the Apps section, click on Add an app.

- Select Zoho Cliq from the available options.

This will ensure that Zoho Cliq notifications are received even when Focus assist is enabled.
Windows 11
Windows 11 has consolidated various notification management features into a single Do Not Disturb (DND) setting. Users can customize this setting by adding specific apps to their allowed list, ensuring that important notifications are received even when DND is enabled.
Linux
Note: Currently, there is no way to identify the system Do Not Disturb (DND) settings in Linux.- If custom notifications are in use, desktop notifications will be shown.
- If native notifications are enabled, desktop notifications will be shown only if the system DND is disabled.
- Sound notifications will always play in Linux apps, even if the system DND is enabled, as long as the Cliq app sound notification settings are enabled.
Due to a design choice by GNOME (the desktop environment for Ubuntu), the Cliq app in Ubuntu has the following issue: Native notifications require the user's permission before being displayed. This causes additional interactions to view custom notifications.
To work around this, users can enable native notifications.
Upon restarting the app, users should receive native notifications, provided the system DND is disabled.
If DND is enabled, a disabled bell icon will appear next to the date in the middle of the top bar, and notifications will be moved to the notification center.
To ensure notifications are displayed properly, users should disable DND. Ubuntu also has application-specific notification settings, so users should check these settings to ensure their preferences are enabled.
Sound notifications will always play in Linux apps, even if system DND is enabled, as long as the Cliq app sound notification settings are enabled. This is because the Cliq app currently does not have permission to detect the DND enabled state in Ubuntu.
