Participating in ongoing live broadcast Town Hall sessions

Understand how live broadcast sessions differ

In an ongoing live broadcast Town Hall, the Q&A stream works similarly to a Q&A session, but the key difference is that hosts and panelists can answer questions through live video streaming.

In this session type:
  • Members can post questions using Ask a question.

  • Participants can upvote/downvote questions and answers, add comments, reply to answer, and react to replies.

  • Hosts and panelists can add text based answers using Add an answer, or choose Pick Live Answer to answer it through live streaming.

Notes
Only questions can be posted; polls and announcements are not available  in Live Broadcast town hall.

Use the live session interface

At the top-left corner of the session, you will see:
  • The session name
  • The live timestamp
  • A recording indicator when the session is being recorded

From the top-right corner, you can open:
  • About
  • The Participants list
  • Ask a question to post your questions.

At the bottom-left corner, you can switch between:
  • Stage
  • Grid
  • Q&A session views

Use host and panelist controls

Hosts and panelists can use these controls during the live broadcast:
  • Toggle Mic

  • Toggle Camera

  • Share Screen

  • Use emojis to show support

  • Open the three-dot menu for:
    • Settings
      • Device Settings
      • Background visual effects

    • Start /Stop recording

    • Switch to Night mode

  • Spotlight a panelist from the three dot menu to bring them into focus while they are speaking or answering a question.

Notes
Meeting controls, such as Mic, Camera, Share Screen, Device Settings, and Spotlight, are available only to the host and panelists. Participants can only see the viewing and engagement options.

Minimize or end the session

To keep watching while engaging elsewhere in the community, use one of these options:
  • Minimize at the bottom-right corner
  • The back arrow at the top-left corner
This continues the broadcast in picture-in-picture mode.

Click Maximize to exit the picture-in-picture mode.

When the session is complete, participants can leave and hosts can End the meeting.
