I. Predefined roles
There are five roles with predefined (non-editable) conditions to which a user can be assigned in a specific group.
1. Super Admin
This is the topmost role exclusive to all permissions and powers. A user assigned to this role can perform any possible task within Publish. They have access to all groups and can disable any user irrespective of their role. Typically, this role will be held by the business owners and top-level management.
2. Org Admin
This is the second topmost role with maximum permissions and powers. An org admin has access to all groups created within Publish. They can disable all users except the super admin.
3. Group Admin
This is the third topmost role with maximum permissions and powers. However, they have access to only the group they belong to. They can only disable managers, viewers, and custom users (without organization-level permissions).
4. Manager
This role enables users to perform operations within the group to which they belong. They have all permissions and powers except creating a business. They can only disable the viewers.
5. Viewer
A user assigned to this role is restricted from exercising any action within Zoho Publish. They can view information and have the least permissions.
Note:
- Detailed conditions of the five predefined roles can be viewed via Users and Roles on the left menu.
- One user can have multiple roles across different groups, but cannot be assigned two roles within a single group. For example, a user cannot be assigned both the roles of group admin and manager within the same group. Their permissions and powers will be based on the role they are assigned in the respective group.
- The Super Admin and Org Admin can access and manage all groups within Zoho Publish.
- Existing users can assign new users roles equal to or lower than their own role. For example, a manager cannot assign the role of org admin.
The table below illustrates the permissions of the five predefined roles.

II. Custom roles
In addition to predefined roles, a user can be assigned a custom role with selective permissions and powers. These roles can be customized to allow users to perform tasks freely and prevent them from accessing sensitive information within Zoho Publish.
