Convert time to string and remove second

I have a question that I can't figure out on my own.
How to convert time into string (singleline) and remove second. Like HH:mm. If I convert it as below, the result becomes null. Thank you very much.
input.Time.tostring("HH:mm")
result: null
input.Time
result: 00:00:00 or HH:mm:ss
