An Introduction to Widgets in Zoho Developer

What are widgets?

Widgets are embeddable components that enable you to incorporate new functionalities into your CRM and extend the feature set of applications. Widgets provide contextual information from third-party software alongside your own application data.

What can be achieved using widgets?

  • Integrate third-party applications with your CRM software, eliminating the need to rely on different systems for information.
  • ‌Work in tandem with your application data and real-time data from third-party product
  • Develop and implement GUI behavior suited to your business needs and processes. 
  • Enjoy the flexibility of developing widgets in your language of choice and then integrating it with your CRM application.
  • Host the widget either internally, using Zoho servers, or using an external server.

How do widgets work?

We provide a Javascript SDK that includes API wrappers for accessing your app's built-in functions. Using this SDK, we can enable the widget(s) embedded inside your CRM to access or manipulate application data and control the UI, on behalf of the logged-in user. 

Types of widgets

Four types of widgets are supported by Zoho Developer. Using one or more of these widgets, myriad capabilities are within reach

  • Custom Buttons
  • Related List
  • Telephony Widget
  • Webtabs
