Announcing the New and Improved Mail Merge

Announcing the New and Improved Mail Merge

With more options and easier functionality, the Mail merge in Zoho Writer is now better than ever!

Here's what's new:

1. More Options to Pull Data

Earlier you could import data from Zoho Sheet, Zoho Contact or a delimited text file, but with the new update you can now directly import CSV files from the web into your document.

2. Improved Mail Merge Field Dialog

Now it is easy to work with the Import Mail Merge field. While the pop-up is open you can still perform other functions at the background and insert the field at specific positions in the document. The insert merge field now has a search option which allows you to search fields by name and land at the right one within seconds, saving you a lot of time!

3. Advanced Options

Option to suppress empty data fields

Mail merges that involve data like addresses, may have empty data for few of its records as they are optional. Previously, a line break was added in the generated document if the merged field is empty, but now you have the option to control the output and reduce the number of blank spaces in your final document.

With the advanced option, you can manage to suppress a blank line that appears for every empty field. Instead, if there is no text in the line, the line is not created at all in the merge result. This helps you to avoid multiple blank lines in the document and saves you the trouble of deleting them manually.

Improved preview of merged document

The preview option is now enhanced and offers more functions to make your work easier. You can navigate through the merged copies from the preview options without leaving the document. You can also email a particular record or download your merged document directly from the preview tab, without leaving the preview window. Once the document is finalized, you can even send it out for e-signing directly from the Preview tab.

Moving of Mail Merged Fields

You can now move the merged fields around your document with just a simple cut and paste command. Just highlight the merged fields ("<>") and cut the merged field out then paste it where you want it to be.

Personalized Subject Line

The subject line is one of the factors that make the reader either open or delete your message. Now you can create personalized subjects for your emails with merge fields in your subject.

Additional Delivery Options

In addition to download and print options of merged document,  we now have a new delivery option that will allow you to send the merged document for digital signing, making it easy for your customers to sign their contracts, proposals, and approvals right-away!
