Hi,
I'm relatively new to Zoho Mail and I really like it so far, however, there is one major problem that I have encountered that I find awfully confusing:
The Archive button.
Traditionally, the Archive button (in every mail service that I have ever used — gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc.), moves a message to a separate folder ("Archive", "All Mail", etc.). In other words, archive
moves a message out of the inbox where the
message remains searchable. Zoho mail
hides the message entirely and makes it
not searchable (by default).
Additionally, every IMAP-based mail app that I've ever used has the ability to archive a message, which by default,
moves mail to a specified folder. This behaviour is significantly different than Zoho Mail's use of the word "Archive". Confusing terminology like this leads to
poor user experience and
lots of confusion.
I propose one of the following options:
• Alter the functionality of the archive button to move a message to the "Archive" folder
and change the terminology of the current archiving functionality to something like "Hide" rather than "Archive" to reduce confusion. This is probably the best option, in my opinion (and also the most backwards compatible).
• Do away with the current "Archive" functionality since it is confusing and tricks users into thinking it does one thing but in reality it does something else entirely.
• Add a setting to be able to alter the functionality of the archive button so that the user can choose how it functions.
I hope this can be corrected soon! I really like Zoho Mail — keep up the good work!
Luke
