While creating user guides, technical documentation or hierarchical headings in legal documents, the need to have numbered headings to generate a structured TOC becomes important. Manually entering the numbers for every heading is simply tedious. To create structured documents, you can use two types of heading lists available in Zoho Writer.
List Style Numbering
This type of numbering has roman numbers such as I, II, III... for first level headings and A, B, C for the second level and so on.
Legal Style Numbering
This is the most popular style of numbering that starts with 1, 2, 3 for first level headings and 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 for each sub-section and so on. Each time higher level heading is added, the lower level number starts from the beginning.
To create multi-level lists
On the Home tab, click the numbered list icon, and select for legal style numbering, or click for list style numbering for your headings.
