Caldav - doesn't work with most clients

I appreciate that the focus was OSX and probably nothing else was tested. But wanted to share my findings in the hope that it gets addressed.
No shared calendars are supported - like all the other shared capabilities, this is a crippling miss for a small business/home user.
Use of the calendar ID is far from optimal, surely there is a better scheme than using a URID as the address that is entered? Supporting discovery of calendars for non-OSX environments would be a considerable help.
Specifically with
With Gnome Evolution on Linux
Calendar added but read only - nothing seems to change that
Android - Caldav-Sync client
Unable to add calendar - its quite possible that I mistyped the URL due to the URID
eMClient on Windows
Appears to work fine.
Please expand the testing to other clients - I use caldav a lot and this is the only caldav server that I have problems with.
