Composite items must be able to include non inventory items and services

Not all items that make up a composite item are inventory items. So we are back to square one. We can build half an item with no services included which is not an item we sell. Which manufacturers are producing products with no work associated with that assembly? How are people using the composite item feature without this? Do we create a composite item with bogus inventory services that we adjust every time to keep the books in line? What are the options that would allow us to use Zoho? This feature is getting very close, but again road blocks.
