Deluge - Our interim solution for Gmail's policy changes

Earlier this month, we shared the news about the upcoming changes in Gmail's guidelines and their impact on send mail tasks in Deluge. We've since received feedback from users expressing concerns about how these changes will affect their email communications, and our backend checks revealed a significant number of users across Zoho services have yet to make the required changes. Moreover, the deadline (Feb 1, 2024) is fast approaching.

What are we planning to do?

In response to all this, we've been working diligently to find a solution to minimize disruption. Starting February 1, we will implement a temporary measure to address Gmail's guidelines. For users whose sender email address in send mail tasks is gmail.com or googlemail.com, we will reroute the emails through our own domain (mailproxy.zohodeluge.com). This proactive step is aimed at ensuring seamless email delivery without any interruptions and providing sufficient time for users to make the required changes.

Update(07-Feb-24): We have activated our email rerouting mechanism today to prevent any potential disruptions to your email communications.

How will it work?

Assume that your email address is emailaddress@gmail.com, and this has been used as the sender address in your send mail tasks. Starting February 1, the emails will be rerouted via our own domain, and the recipients will receive the email from this address: emailaddress-gmail@mailproxy.zohodeluge.com

For ease of recognition, the email address used as part of this stopgap solution will replicate the existing Gmail address. So if the ID was "zylkeradmin@gmail.com", then the email would be from "zylkeradmin-gmail@mailproxy.zohodeluge.com".

Note:
We want to emphasize that the only change to your send mail tasks will be that the emails will be rerouted via a different sender email address. The subject and content parts will be untouched.
Further, since the sender address will be changed, if the recipient has set any filters, they may not work as intended.

Who will it apply to?

This temporary solution will be applicable to only the emails sent from send mail Deluge tasks within the following Zoho services:
  • Zoho CRM
  • Zoho Bigin
  • Zoho Survey
  • Zoho Connect
  • Zoho IOT
  • Zoho People
  • Zoho Vertical Solutions(Vertical CRM)

How long will this function?

It's important to note that this is a temporary solution and will only be in place for two months.

During this time, we encourage affected users to transition from using Gmail addresses to non-public email addresses, to avoid any future disruptions.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we navigate these changes together.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to support@zohodeluge.com.

Regards,
The Deluge Team

      • Function #41: Sync Associated Subforms!

Welcome back everyone! The last custom function showed how to update a Contact with Product details from it's Related list in Deals. This week, let's look at a function that lets you update subform records in two modules simultaneously when one of them is updated. Business scenario Let's look at how subform helps in an education institution that has deployed Zoho CRM. National Public School, Austin (made up, of course!) has set up Zoho CRM and it follows the same relationship pattern of "Students",
