We are a phone company. Sometimes, when we sign up customers, our sales team would like to provide recurring discounts on certain addons.
Presently, we have no way of doing this so when we provide discounts, we are forced to simply reduce the price of the addon. This is not ideal, however, as it does not show anywhere on the invoice that a discount has been applied for that line item.
There are two possible solutions to allow line item discounts:
1) Allow users to enter a negative amount for plans/addons. Presently the system provides an error message "Please specify a valid price." so this is not possible.
2) Allow discounts to be applied per-item in the same was as it is done on invoices.
It is very important for us to be able to manually apply recurring discount amounts on a per-line item basis. The coupon functionality is not flexible enough because discounts are offered at the discretion of the sales rep when the sell the plan and it does not make sense to create a custom coupon for every case. Not to mention if the subscription is later modified, the coupon may no longer be applicable or may need to be slightly update to reflect the new plan which is currently impossible without creating yet another custom coupon.
Is there any current way (or any possibility!) of allowing for line-item level discounts or negative plan/addon rates to make discouting possible?
Thanks!
