Drag-Copy multiple cells with CTRL increments Date

Hi Zoho - great suite of applications and for free!  Superb.
 
Basically, I expect Sheet to behave like Excel - I hope that's not "wrong" as such?
 
One thing I can do as expected is to select a cell with a date in it and then "drag" the bottom right corner of the cell down to fill in the cells below.   When I do this, the date increments by 1 day for each cell.    When I hold down the "CTRL" key while I'm doing the drag, the date does not increment.   This is good.
 
HOWEVER
 
Unlike Excel, when I select two or more cells eg a text field and a date and I want them copied into multiple cells below, the date will always increment regardless of whether or not I press CTRL.   The situation is that I'm entering faults into a sheet and I want my name and the date against each row so the date is staying the same for several rows.
 
Hope you agree that this behaviour is inconsistent and are able to address.
