Drop Ship orders - Allow us to add package/shipment!
It makes NO sense that drop ship orders automatically mark the SO as fulfilled without allowing us to provide a tracking # to send to the customer. If an item is sent as a drop ship, it does not mean that it is automatically finished. Below examples are some of the many issues with how this is set up.
1) What if the drop ship item is backordered at the supplier? Now our SO shows as complete when it is not.
2) While drop shipper may be sending goods on our behalf, they are not in communication with the customer and do not send them tracking information. It is sent to us, to provide to our customer. We need to be able to manage this on the order, as well as provide it to our customer.
Drop ship orders should function in the same manner as regular orders, however just not require receiving or tracking of inventory. Currently you can use a standard PO to send direct to customer, but it requires that you log inventory and will indicate that 1 unit is assigned to that customer. It does not make sense!
