Enhanced Table of Contents in Zoho Writer
Navigating through huge documents can be tiresome without an organized Table of Content. A TOC helps you to easily jump from one section to another without scrolling through the entire document. While previously it was possible to add a TOC at the click of a button, what lacked was the ability to customize the Table of Contents to match every document need. Today, Zoho Writer introduces an enhanced TOC, with options to customize and define styles, to get the perfect TOC for your document.
With a gallery of pre-set styles, you can now choose styles for your TOC and add them instantly to the document. The enhancement also brings in a set of options to customize the minor details of the TOC till you think it's just right for you.
Here are the enhancements that will help you customize your TOC better:
- Formats: Choose from the list of pre-set styles to give your TOC a new look You can choose from: Classic, Contemporary, Modern, Formal, or Simple.
- Tab Leaders: You can add a leader between each heading and it's page numbers and also customize the style for the tab leaders.
- Outline Level: By default, the TOC is generated based on the Heading Level 1-3 of your document, but you can also manually set the number of levels that needs to be included in your TOC.
- Page Numbers: You can enable or disable the page numbers from appearing in the TOC against each heading.
To add a table of contents:
- Place the cursor where you want to insert the table of contents, and click Insert > Table of Contents.
- Choose a style from the gallery to add the TOC in the document.
- To customize the TOC, click More Options. Make the necessary changes in the Table of Contents window to generate the TOC as per the selection made.
