If you had logged in to your Zoho Campaigns account, you'd have been slightly surprised to see a pop-up message that says we've made some updates to our Terms of Use with regard to the usage of certain technologies. We'd like to clearly convey to you why we resorted to banning emails concerning cryptocurrency and other related technology.
So, what's this change all about?
Although cryptocurrency, initial coin sharing (ICO), block chain, and other latest mechanisms are popular, in most of the cases, the usage of these technologies in email marketing is associated with fraudulent and misleading business activities/practices. As a result, Zoho Campaigns decided to bring in a change to address this issue.
Why did we decide to restrict these technologies?
Allowing for such technology-related emails is extremely spam prone. We wanted to prevent the hacking of email accounts associated with us, as these technologies can be employed for sending malware emails.
So, with the thought to protect the many thousands of businesses using Zoho Campaigns, as well as reduce the spam complaints and bounces that occur by the delivery of emails related to these technologies, we've decided to completely stop them, henceforth.
What do you need to avoid from now?
Avoid using Zoho Campaigns to send emails that involve production, sale, exchange, transfer, storage, or propagation of cryptocurrency, and all the other technology including but not limited to virtual currency, initial coin offering (ICO), and blockchain.
We'll strictly be prohibiting this usage, and our compliance team will be in the constant watch for the people who disobey the terms.
What can you still do amidst these changes?
While there's a strict rule on the 'email marketing' usage of these technologies, we don't restrict business from sharing information about these technologies through emails. So, for companies involved in creation, curation, and delivery of knowledge content concerning cryptocurrency, and other technologies, you can continue to use Zoho Campaigns for your email marketing needs.
For example, you're a news agency using Zoho Campaigns to send out newsletters to your subscribers. Your recent newsletter talks about how cryptocurrency is being banned by many businesses. In this case, cryptocurrency is spoken about only as a subject and there's no transaction or activity related to it. So, you can continue to send your email through us, as it doesn't violate our terms.
(Note: Just make sure that you abide by the things stated under 'What you need to avoid,' in the previous section).
