Function #6: Calculate Commissions for paid invoices
Zoho Books helps you automate the process of calculating and recording commissions paid to sales persons using custom functions. We've written a script that computes the commission amount based on the percentage of commission you enter and creates an expense correspondingly.
Prerequisites:
Add a new custom field of type Percent with the name "Commission Percent" for the Invoices module. In this field, you will enter the percentage of commission you ought to give the salesperson.
Custom Function:
Now, head to
Settings ->
Automation ->
Custom Functions ->
+New Custom Function and add the function script. You can find the script in this
GitHub link.
As you'll notice, we have entered "Petty Cash" as the Paid Through account for the expense in the script. If you wish to track it using a different account, replace Petty Cash by the appropriate account name.
Also, don't forget to create the Connection. Without it, the function won't execute. Here's how to create a connection in Zoho Books:
Workflow Rule:
Go to Settings -> Automation -> Workflow Rules -> +New Workflow Rule and configure the rule as follows to animate the custom function on the right occasion.
Once you choose the appropriate custom function at the end, save the workflow.
This will streamline the process of tracking commissions and increase efficiency by hampering the possibility of any human errors and saving you time.
