How is Covid affecting the 2021 Super Bowl Commercials

Super Bowl, the annual championship game of the National Football league, USA has an incredible viewer base of 100 million viewers on an average and is also one of the most-watched television broadcasts in the USA of all time. Nine out of ten Americans love to watch the Super Bowl and half of the viewers are more interested in the commercials than in the game. Advertisers shell out up to 5 million dollars for a 30-second ad spot in the Super Bowl commercials. They leverage this platform to promote the launch of a new product and 97 per cent of media planners see Super Bowl spots as an effective medium to raise consumer awareness.

This year's Super Bowl commercials brought a major twist as the big players including Budweiser, Coco-cola, and Pepsi are benching their in-game ads for the first time in history. In fact, Budweiser, Coca-cola, and Pepsi were among the top 10 biggest advertising spenders of last year's Super Bowl.

With over four decades of producing some of the perpetual ads with its iconic Clydesdale horses and adorable puppies, Budweiser is renouncing its spot this year. Budweiser is one of the best-selling beers in the U.S who aired "Puppy Love" commercial, one of the remarkable ads pulled the heart-string of all beer and animal lovers worldwide. Even though they conquered the spotlight for nearly 37 years, this year they are planning to spend the ad money on educating and creating Covid awareness among people.

Following Budweiser, Coco cola and Pepsi are too taking a time out from the 2021 Super Bowl Commercials. The all time rivals are pausing their competition war in the Super Bowl airtime for the first time in 20 years.  Given the current concern, Coca-cola paused this year's Super Bowl ad spending and is instead planning to invest in other marketing sources.

With the big players stepping out,  thereby paving way for the newbies including Huggies, Fiverr, and Chipotle, who do you think is going to steal this year's show? Share your thoughts as comments to this post.

      • Once Upon a Sales Meeting!

It was an awkward silence in the meeting room "Uproar." John Kowalski, the new sales manager, was not happy with the team's performance. After scribbling something in the notepad, he decided to break the silence, John: I cannot believe you guys have been working like this. No reports, delusional forecasting, random targets, and no eye on the ball. Kevin: We followed Richard's orders. John: Well, Richard is not here anymore, is he? John walked up to the whiteboard, and wrote in big bold letters: "TARGET
