Is there a way to combine Candidates & Job Opening modules in a Workflow?

Hello everyone!

Here's the situation...

We receive a ton of organic candidates associated to our jobs from ZipRecruiter Organic and Indeed Organic. Currently I have a workflow setup to send a "Please Apply" email to newly Associated Candidates when these organic Candidates are added by Indeed and ZipRecruiter. The issue is that we are receiving Candidates from these sources and they are being Associated with ALL jobs, including those that are inactive and filled. So Candidates are receiving a "Please Apply" email on jobs that are no longer available.

What I need is to happen is one of the following...

1. either a way to have Candidates from these sources Associated with In-Progress jobs only OR
2. a way to send emails only to Candidates Associated with an In-Progress jobs

Can someone please provide some guidance on this? It's frustrating and causing mayhem in our office.
