Left Panel list in Zoho Writer
Folks,
Time to unveil the mystery behind the slew of folder names that you get to see on the left side panel of the Zoho Writer editor. The folder and their functionality is mentioned below in the order of their appearance from top to bottom:
# My Docs - All the documents that users create/import/email in, they reside in the my docs folder. There is a cute "sort by" functionality just to the right of it. Users can sort their documents in My Docs folder by- Name, Created Date & Last Modified Time in both ascending & descending order. There is also a search functionality (small lens image) for My Docs folder using which users can search for document in that folder by name.
# Templates - All the template docs that is added from the Writer Template Library become part of the template folder. Users can open the templates in the editor and can have it as a document in their my docs folder with their changes or as it is.
# Shared Docs - The documents that are shared to you by other Zoho Writer users form the shared docs folder. The documents are shared either in Read-only or Read/Write mode. Users can do collaborative editing along with other shared users and can exchange notes by chatting.
# Public Docs - The documents that are made public by a user of Zoho Writer account become part of the public docs folder. To make a document public, click "Publish" link >> "Make Public" from the editor toolbar in the first row. Once the user makes the document public it is reflected in his Public Docs folder.
# Trash - Docs that are deleted for the first time from My Docs folder are moved to trash folder. If user wishes to permanently delete the doc or restore the same they can open the doc from the trash folder and perform any one of the operation.
Apart from these permanent folders, users can create their own folders using the "tags-as-folder" concept mentioned here.
Do let us know your suggestions on improving the current model.
Also refer to the attached image of the left panel.
Thanks,
Ahmed
