Load External Images From Contacts not working

Load External Images From Contacts not working

i'm having issues trying to get images automatically loading when the sender is in my contacts list.
- 'Always' works as expected
- 'From Contacts' doesnt seem to work (added contact both manually, and 'add to contacts' from an email directly), and acts like i've chosen 'ask me'.
- 'ask me' worsk as expected

what is needed to get 'from contacts' automatically loading images?
if it matters, i do have multiple contact categories - one for personal contacts, another for business (insurance companies, car breakdown) etc
