Marketers Space - Why should you authenticate your domain?

Hello,

One of the most talked-about features in the email marketing world is domain authentication. Domain authentication and many of the acronyms surrounding it may sound foreign to those who are unfamiliar with tech terms. This post aims to show that domain authentication can be understood without specific technical knowledge.

So why should you authenticate your domain?

Spammers and phishers swarm all over the internet, looking to prey on marketers who do not authenticate their email addresses. Spammers aim to flood a recipient's inbox with unwanted and unsolicited messages. Phishers are more troublesome, taking the form of a legitimate email address and stealing sensitive identification information.

Email marketers hold a substantial amount of sensitive information about their customers and cannot afford to fall prey to these malicious attacks. Authenticating your domain has become necessary to avoid spammers and phishers from hacking your email address and sending messages to your contacts.

What happens if you don't authenticate your domain?

Emails with domains that have not been authenticated have a high chance of landing in spam folders, or they may not even get delivered. If these scenarios are happening with your campaign emails, your reputation as a credible marketer would get tainted and your sales would suffer.

Zoho Campaigns has made domain authentication easy in a five step process:

    1. Add a sender address

    2. Copy SPF and DKIM text records from Zoho Campaigns

    3. Paste text records in your domain's DNS management tool and publish them

    4. Verify that text records were published in Zoho Campaigns

    5. Send your email campaigns

The steps mentioned above will be discussed in consecutive posts.
