Comments, markup, and tracking changes form a significant part of Writer's collaboration engine. They make working together on documents easy and efficient.
We're happy to announce some major enhancements in the way you work with changes in Writer. Read the complete announcement here.
Here's what's new:
I. Edit without markup
As important as changes and suggestions are, they can also be overwhelming when several people work on the same document. With the introduction of an all-new No Markup mode, you now have the option to hide the colored strikeout and addition marks, so you see what the tracked changes will look like as normal text.
The Changes panel will help you keep track of what's changed, and accept or reject changes individually.
To enable No Markup mode:
- Make sure you have Track Changes turned on.
- Select Review mode.
- Click the All Markup dropdown.
- Choose No Markup.
II. Custom colors for editors
Consistent markups for teams that work together on documents frequently. Make your edits and cursor appear in the color that suits your personality the best.
To select a custom color:
- Select Review mode.
- Click the Paintbrush [ ] icon.
- Choose your favorite color.
- If you want to use this color on every document, check Use this as my default color for new documents.
III. Select blocks of text to accept or reject changes
If you have multiple suggested changes in one paragraph, you can accept or reject them in bulk instead of one at a time.
To process changes in bulk:
- Select a block of text.
- Right click to display available actions.
- Select Accept selected changes or Reject selected changes.
IV. New APIs for Track Changes
Now you can use Track Changes in any custom application built using our Zoho Office API.
V. Filter changes by user
Is it getting confusing to consider changes from several reviewers at once? You can use our new filter to view changes from one collaborator at a time.
To filter changes by user:
- Make sure you're in Review mode.
- Go to the Changes panel.
- Click the User dropdown and select a collaborator.
As always, we'll be more than happy to listen to your feedback and help you if you run into any trouble. Do write to us at support@zohowriter.com.
Happy writing!
