Problem with invoice and payment sync between Zoho and QBO

Has anyone had a problem with the invoice/payment sync between Zoho and QBO?

We have items listed in QBO as non-inventory and inactive.  When an invoice syncs down from Zoho the items automatically show up on my Products and Services list as (still) non-inventory, but active.  Once an item is listed as active, no other invoices with that item will sync through to QBO.  As you can imagine this is a huge problem for us - as you have to revert those items back to inactive, figure out which invoices did not sync (no error shows up in integrations) and edit the invoice and try to re-sync.  It feels like a programming issue but I haven't had much luck getting this resolved through the help function.  

Does anyone have a work around on this?
