same time last year I was speaking to Zoho about the use of a Secondary Reporting Manager and certain challenges that I was facing. at the time, I was told that this functionality did not exist. I am still facing challenges, so I would like to ask around for ideas.
Scenario:
Each employee is part of a Team. A Team has a team leader. The Team Leader is responsible for the employee operationally. e.g. They approve the employee leaves.
At the same time, each employee has a Line Manager, which is different from the Team Leader. the line manager would handle HR matters, like knowledge of employment contract details, which the Team Leader would not be exposed to.
In order to have the 1st part of my requirement working, I has to enable and use the secondary reporting manager in People. This allow me to get the leave approval workflow working as it was the only was to declare a team leader and make him/her responsible to approve AND manage leaves. Today I still have a problem, because even though the Team leader approves the leaves, they can not see their team leave in the calendar or any other view, while the 1st reporting manager can.
The second challenge is that by having a secondary reporting manager, then this person can see employee documents that are marked for the employee and manager only. e.g. employee contracts. I appreciate that this logic seems to work by design, as both are a manager... But then how can I adapt Zoho People to my requirements?
