Just over a year ago, Instagram launched Threads, the all new social media app primarily focusing on sharing text online. It was welcomed by people worldwide with more than 10 million users in just seven hours, and it currently has over 175 million active users. It lets you share posts up to 500 characters and can include photos, videos, audio, topic tags, or even polls.
 
Unlike platforms like Instagram or Facebook, where the photo or the video takes center stage, Threads offers the best space to initiate a conversation with your audience. What starts with a simple thought, a question, or an idea can pave the way for your audience to chime in with their opinions as replies, forming a thread of engagement.



The main advantage of establishing a Threads profile for your brand is that you don't have to start from scratch. Because Instagram created Threads, you can easily sign up and import all your information, such as your profile picture, bio, and verification—along with your entire audience—from Instagram.

How can brands use Threads?

It's already challenging and exhausting for social media managers and marketers to keep track of what's trending and come up with engaging content, all while building a strong audience base. Brands have to be available across all channels such as Facebook, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube, and Threads, along with so many other channels that are out there. Every channel should have a distinct content strategy to ensure the audience is engaged and doesn't drop off. You need to identify the type of content that resonates with your audience across the social media channels.
 
Threads offers a perfect space for brands to strike up a conversation with the audience, ask questions, or share regular updates about the products or services that you offer. A simple thought can prove to be an excellent start for a Thread of interactions, which can further enhance your brand's reach and reputation.



There's also a high chance for brands to engage with each other via witty banter that the audience might enjoy.




Threads also allows you to share a carousel of photos and videos to add visual appeal for your audience. You can also create polls or share audio along with your Thread post. With the liberty to publish posts up to 500 characters in a single Thread, it gives brands, or even influencers, the opportunity to share personal thoughts or stories, which helps them personally connect with the audience.

Apart from initiating the conversation, it's also important to take part in interactions that are relevant to your brand and the products/services that you offer, which can help enhance your brand's awareness among a whole new audience. 



Since your Threads account is linked with Instagram, it's also easy for you to share your posts or Threads on Instagram as Stories or add them to your Feed. 



The fediverse advantage

Threads announced the beta of integration into the fediverse back in March 2024, and now it's already available for users across more than 100 countries.

The fediverse is a decentralized social network of interconnected servers that allows users to communicate with each other. This means that your Threads profile can be followed by users across various other services in the fediverse like Mastodon, PixelFed, and a lot more, and engage with your content. You'll be able to view all the likes and other interactions with your post across the fediverse. This decentralized approach gives you more control to manage your content and followers and to reach a wider audience.   


Publishing on Threads from Zoho Social

You can now start publishing or scheduling posts on Threads directly from Zoho Social. Share text, photos, and videos on your Threads profile and other social media platforms in one go. This makes it easy for social media marketers to manage their content strategy, visualize Threads in the calendar, and ensure the audience is engaged across all social media networks.
