Suggestions for customer statements
Great service. Simple and effective. I especially like the statement feature as my clients need to see the big picture rather than simply one invoice.
Some suggestions for improving customer statements:
1. On the customer statement, a payment by the customer should be shown as a negative number. Charges are positive which is appropriate as they increase the balance due. I checked my credit card statement for example and that is exactly how they display payments as well as credits - as negative numbers.
2. A customer should be able to send one check which makes payment against the total balance due. I believe this would require a separate entry for payments rather than forcing payments to be entered within an Invoice. In this case you could allow users to select from a list of all open invoices to determine which invoice to post the payment against. While doing so, you could allow users to simply choose multiple invoices to credit with the payment in order to split the payment across more than one invoice.
3. Enable additional information to be included beside the Invoice line in the customer statement. For example customer PO#. The reason I ask for this is because simply listing the invoice number such as "INV-8" and the associated dollar amount does not give much detail to help understand what the line it is. Ideally I would have something like a Project Name field. But customer PO# is better than nothing.
4. Add page numbers to the statement. I.e. "Page 1 of 2" centered at the bottom. The first statement that I ran had multiple pages to it.
5. Provide options for various page sizes. Seems the current page size is a European standard. I would like to be able to set up for US standards such as Letter and Legal. For now the work around is to scale the format to fit Letter.
6. Enable page margins to be set and stay within them when generating printer output. Currently the PDF output goes way down near the very bottom of the page.
Again, love the program. Simple and effective. Just some initial suggestions for improvement after only using the tool for a day...
Thanks,
