Last week we saw how to configure notifications to make them less cluttered and more relevant. With numerous bugs cropping up it takes a lot of time and effort in tracking and updating records. What if you could automatically assign a bug to a developer based on the module or severity? This week we shall focus on automating bug related tasks which are repetitive in nature or whose flow is preset thus saving time.
Business Rules
The automation tool in Bug Settings lets you create Business Rules to execute actions which would otherwise have to be done manually.
The trigger for the action could be a bug creation and/or bug update or a field update.
Specify the criteria for the business rule. The business rule is executed only if the bug status matches the criteria.
You can use business rules to automatically update fields such as the severity, status, module, classification, owner etc and you can post to any third-party application by using webhooks.
Automatically assign UI related bugs to the concerned developer
Write a business rule to automatically assign UI related bugs to Jasmine Frank.
A bug is submitted in the BugTracker module.
The user classifies the bug as a UI/Usability.
The business rule is executed and the bug is automatically assigned to Jasmine Frank.
A webhook triggers an SMS to the project owner notifying this update.
Try out the Business Rules and let us know what you think.
