Tiny Tip Tuesday #35

Why is it important to add an introduction or a disclaimer to your survey?

Surveys are one of the best research tools to gather insights on diverse topics, such as consumer preferences, service feedback, medical research, human resources, and so on. However, one needs to be extra careful when running a survey, to protect the privacy of your target audience and the data they provide.

Here's how adding an introduction to your survey adds value:
  1. The introduction can share a bit on the topic of your survey and give respondents a clear idea of what to expect out of the survey.
  2. It mentions warnings and other disclaimers, if any. In turn, it offers an added legal protection to the terms and conditions you list in the beginning of your survey.
  3. It reassures your participants that their data is safe and will not be misused. This can draw in more participation and unbiased responses.
  4. The respondents will be aware of the type of information being collected and how it will be used before they volunteer to provide any data.
