Tip #18: Stay on top of comments and changes made by collaborators

Tip #18: Stay on top of comments and changes made by collaborators

You've prepared and shared a document with your collaborators for their review. Your collaborators have reviewed the document and asked for your input, but since you weren't being notified of the changes, you only realize the document was reviewed when you open it three weeks later. Oops!

Writer lets you enable notifications for your collaborators' activities in a document. This will send you email notifications whenever comments or changes are made by someone in a particular document.

Here's how to enable notifications for comments and changes:

1. Open the shared document in Writer and go to Review mode. Now click on Email Notification Settings from the top panel of the editor.

2. From the Email Notification Settings, check Notify me of all changes made to the document to get notifications for all activities done by collaborators.

3. To get notified for all comment activities, check Enable notifications for only comment activities in the document and then check Notify me of all comment activities in this document.

4. To get notified when new comments are added to the document, check Enable notifications for only comment activities in the document and then check Notify me when new comments are added in this document.

5. To get notified specifically for replies on your comments, check the Enable notifications for only comment activities in the document option and check the Notify me of all activities in the comments which I've participated option.

6. To disable email notifications for comments and changes in the document check Don't send me email notifications for this document.

7. You can further set the options you've selected as default across all your documents by checking the Set as default for all new documents option.

Alternatively, you can also enable notifications to follow the activities of specific comments of your choice. To do this, follow the below steps:

1. Click on the three dot option next to the comment and select Follow.

Similarly, collaborators can receive notifications for comments and changes made by other collaborators or the document owner by enabling the above options.

You can also notify collaborators via email about comments and changes made by clicking on the mail icon from the top panel.
