Tip #55: Set Validation in File Formats added as Attachments

Would you like to allow only selected file formats to be added as attachments? We have now got the option to set the validations in Attachment and File fields.

For instance, an insurance company would like to shift their entire claim process online and they have developed an online platform with Qntrl for the org users to submit their bills. However, they want to prevent uploading bills in any format. The validation of file formats can help with this.

Within Settings, select Orchestration and choose the relevant orchestration. On the Create Form page, click the settings icon beside the Attachments field and set the validation. You can find the below validations:

  • Allow all formats: You can add any file without any restrictions.
  • Allow selective formats: Only the file formats specified in this field will be accepted.
  • Restrict selective formats: The file formats specified in this field will not be accepted.
The company wants to accept only PDFs for insurance claims. They can do this by selecting Allow selective formats and entering PDF into the text field.

If the company wants to accept all file formats, they can choose Allow all formats or if they want to restrict certain file formats, they can select Restrict selective formats

Note: When you allow or restrict file formats, you can only choose a maximum of 10 formats.
