Tips and Tricks #23: Convert Shapes using Show

Hello everyone,

Have you ever come across situations where you wanted to convert some formatted shapes into a different shape?

Did you delete the existing shape, then insert the required shape, and then apply the formatting styles all over again?

These steps are fine to follow as long as the formatting applied is minimal or when you have ample time to work on the changes. But of course, this can be tedious in the long run—is that how you want to spend your time?

With Show, you can simply play around with various shapes without disturbing their formatting each time, as well as easily convert any number of shapes to a new shape.

Here's an example to show you how the Change Shape tool can be used to modify shapes.

Here's how to convert shapes in the Show web app:
  1. Open the slide with the shapes that you want to convert.
  2. Select the shape you want to convert.
  3. Press the Command or Shift key to do a multi-selection and select the shapes.
  4. Go to Format, then Change. The Shape window appears.
  5. Select the shape you want to convert to. The existing shapes will convert to the newly defined shape.
Here's how to convert shapes in Show's Android app:
  1. Open the slide with the shapes that you want to convert.
  2. Long-press a shape to enable the selection feature, then select the shape.
  3. Tap any other shapes you want to convert in the slide to are select.
  4. Go to Format, then Change Shape. The Change Shape window appears.
  5. Select the shape you want to convert to. The existing shapes will convert to the newly defined shape.
Tip: You can also do a multi-selection by dragging your finger over the area containing the shapes.
