TLS v1.2 Upgrade and Changes to System Requirements for Zoho Assist

TLS v1.2 Upgrade and Changes to System Requirements for Zoho Assist

As we tighten our TLS v1.2 security update, admins and users need to be aware that supported versions of operating systems and web browsers will change after October 31st, 2018.

After this date, we will retire support for clients using TLS v1.0 and TLS v1.1 protocols. In order to support these changes and meet the updated PCI standards please ensure that computers configured for Unattended Access are updated to TLS v1.2 and use web browsers that support the latest update.

What is TLS v1.2, and why is Zoho Assist removing the older protocols?

Transport Layer Security (TLS) v1.2 is an updated network protocol that allows data to be transferred privately and securely between a server and a client. Using TLS v1.0 and TLS v1.1 can leave your encrypted remote connections open to POODLE, LOGJAM, and other types of attacks. Zoho Assist will no longer support older protocols to ensure system security and maintain compliance.

What do I need to do?

These are the checks you need to perform to support this latest update:

The following operating system versions support the latest update:
  • Macintosh OS X 10.9 and above
  • Windows XP SP2 and above
  • Linux - Ubuntu 14.04 and above, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and above, Cent OS 6 and above, Debian 7 and above, Linux Mint 13 and above
We recommend that you use any of the following browsers. They will support the latest update:
  • Google Chrome 16.0 and above
  • Firefox 37 and above
  • Internet Explorer 11 and above
  • Safari 7.0 and above.
If Unattended Access is configured in Windows OS, the agent will be automatically updated to the latest version when online. If the configured computer doesn't appear online by October 31st, 2018, the computer should be manually reconfigured for Unattended Access.
