Using email as a parameter for surveys

Hi - I am setting up a survey with the "allow only one response per unique url" restriction. 

The email with the survey link is to be sent out via a CRM email template 

When appending the email parameter to the link does it need to be done manually? Or can I use the CRM merge field to create the email. 

ie. do we have to physically insert the link in each individual email as


or can I put in the template:

https://survey.zohopublic.com/zs/1a2b3c ?email=${Contacts.Email}

Sorry if this is a silly question.  The actual outcome I am trying to get is to be able to identify a survey respondent, through a survey that is sent out via an automated email.
