Using Inventory To Manage Company Equipment

Inventory can be used to also manage company equipment but with work arounds
Invoice - check out
Return - check in

Can I suggest using Inventory as a base to build an equipment management solution or an add on module to Inventory so that you'll don't have to create a new solution because the fundamental workings are the same. I'm not a developer, so looking at software from a user perspective makes it seem easy but I'm sure you get the idea.
