Writer to Self Hosted Wordpress Posting without styling

I have set up Writer to be able to post to my self-hosted wordpress website. The posts come through fine. However, they are including all of the styling from the Writer document.  This creates "inline" css code in my blog posts.  This is not a good situation for SEO and site speed. 

I tried to match the site styles, but this still brings in the code as inline.  I tried entering HTML on the Writer document, but it just brings in the code as actual text.  So, instead of <strong>bold text</strong>  being bold text I get "<strong>bold text</strong>" on my blog post. 

It there a way around this?  I just want the raw content not the styling to come over.
