Dear Zoho Recruit User,
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), recruiters and employers now have new legal responsibilities regarding how they handle candidate information, and be GDPR compliant.
What is GDPR?
General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR, is a set of rules governing privacy for candidates and organizations operating in, or doing business with, the EU. Designed to standardize laws across Europe and to protect and empower EU residents, GDPR aims to to reshape the way organizations in the region approach data privacy. It covers not just EU residents and businesses, but anyone who handles data from those in the region.
Why is GDPR important for recruiters?
As a recruiter, for staffing agencies or corporations, you deal with a lot of candidate information during the application stage and the interview process. Under GDPR, this makes you a Data Controller, processing a great deal of personal data, including phone numbers, email and postal addresses, and current workplace details, among others.
Under GDPR, it is the recruiter's responsibility to be fair and transparent while handling any personal data. Recruiters must inform the candidate how, where, and why their data is being used. Also, recruiters must make sure that their privacy policies are easily accessible to anyone applying for a job. This GDPR handbook for recruiters will help you get prepared.
How can Zoho Recruit help?
