Zoho Writer Brings You Enhanced Offline Setup

Zoho Writer has enhanced one of its prominent features -  Offline Editing. With the new Offline Setup option 200 of your recently modified documents  are downloaded and saved in the local database, which can be accessed offline using a URL. To access the files offline, you first need to perform a one-time setup in your Zoho Writer's page. Once the setup is complete and your recent documents are taken offline,  you can access those files using the link-  https://docs.zoho.com/writer/offline, from your web browser. The offline mode enables you to view, edit, and comment on a document. All the changes made to the document offline can be synced back to the cloud once you go online.


The Offline Setup works for Chrome, Firefox, and Opera  browsers. You can configure the setup for different browsers independently, to access the documents in multiple  browsers  on the same system.


To configure offline setup

  1. In the top right corner of your Zoho Writer document, next to your username, click the Options  icon. The Options drop-down list is displayed.
  2. Click  Offline > Setup offline. 
  3. A confirmation dialog box appears asking your permission to continue the setup. Click  Proceed  to continue. The  Offline Setup  window is displayed. The recently modified documents starts to download. The download status of each document is displayed next to the doc ument
    Note : A maximum of 200 recently modified documents are downloaded at a time.
  4. Once the setup is complete, the status window is displayed with the total number of documents that were synced/downloaded  successfully and the ones that failed.
          Note : If during the process you are prompted for permission to store documents offline, click Allow to continue the offline setup.
To access documents offline:
  1. To access and edit documents in the offline mode, use the following URL: https://docs.zoho.com/writer/offline
    All the documents that were synced offline during the setup are listed here. 
  2. Click the name of document that you want to edit, and start editing.
    Note You cannot create a new document or insert images in the offline mode.  You can edit one document in one tab at a time.
To sync documents edited offline:
Documents that are edited offline and opened in browser are synced automatically when you go online. To sync other documents manually, follow the below steps:
  1. Open each documents manually from Zoho Docs to sync the changes made offline
    Or
  2. In Zoho Writer, click the Options  icon, and then click  Offline > Sync Status. The Documents in offline window is displayed. 
  3. Click Sync Documents. All the documents that were edited offline syncs back to the cloud to reflect the changes made.
To remove offline setup:
You can clear the offline data stored in a browser using the Remove offline setup option. All documents and the edits made (if any) will be removed.

  1. In the top right corner of the Zoho Writer document, click the Options  icon. 
  2. In the drop-down list, click Offline > Remove offline setup.
  3. A confirmation dialog box is displayed asking your permission to remove offline setup. Click Proceed to continue.
    Warning:  Clearing the all browser history will remove offline data completely.
