La gestion des opérations fait partie intégrante de toute organisation, quelle que soit sa taille, son secteur d'activité, qu'il s'agisse d'une entreprise de services ou de fabrication, ou qu'elle soit à but lucratif.

La gestion des opérations consiste à planifier, organiser et superviser la production de biens ou de services. Elle permet à votre organisation de convertir avec succès les ressources (main-d'œuvre, matériaux, technologie, etc.) en extranets (produits ou services) de manière très efficace. Elle implique la gestion de l'information, des ressources humaines, des équipements, de la technologie et toutes autres ressources nécessaires à la production de biens ou de services. En d'autres termes, il s'agit de tirer le meilleur parti des ressources d'une entreprise.

L'objectif de la gestion des opérations est d'aider à maximiser l'efficacité au sein d'une organisation, d'accroître sa productivité, d'augmenter les profits tout en réduisant les coûts, et d'assurer la production et la livraison de produits ou de services de haute qualité qui répondent aux besoins des consommateurs. Qui plus est, la gestion des opérations prévoit que chaque opération quotidienne d'une organisation soutienne et aide à atteindre les objectifs uniques de celle-ci.

La gestion de projet est l'un des composants importants des opérations. Elle consiste à trouver un équilibre entre le calendrier, le budget et la portée globale d'un projet, tandis que l'équipe projet travaille à la réalisation de ses objectifs. Elle permet d'améliorer la productivité et de minimiser les risques de retard et de dépassement de budget - et conduit souvent à une plus grande rentabilité.


Voici quelques raisons pour lesquelles la gestion de projet est essentielle :
  • Un plan et un processus de projet bien établis - La fonction première de la gestion de projet est d'éviter la confusion en définissant un plan et un processus clairs du début à la fin.
  • Travail d'équipe - Les gens sont amenés à travailler en équipe sur un projet, en raison des avantages qui découlent du partage et de la connaissance des compétences.
  • Maximiser les ressources - Il est bien connu que les ressources humaines et financières sont susceptibles d'être coûteuses. La gestion des risques et le suivi du projet avec des rapports réguliers garantissent une utilisation économique et efficace de toutes les ressources.
  • Garder le contrôle des coûts - En fonction de leur portée, certains projets peuvent entraîner des coûts élevés. Il est donc essentiel de garder le contrôle du budget. L'intégration de stratégies de gestion de projet réduit les risques de dépassement de budget.
  • Renforcer les connaissances - Lorsque les entreprises se lancent dans plusieurs projets, elles acquièrent plus d'expérience au fil du temps. La gestion de projet est un atout pour l'entreprise et permet de capitaliser à la fois l'expérience et les connaissances.
  • Gérer la qualité - Il est essentiel de garantir des résultats de qualité supérieure. La gestion de projet identifie, contrôle et gère les normes. Il en résulte un produit/service de haute qualité et un client satisfait.
  • Contrôle continu - Les méthodes de gestion de projet permettent aux organisations de contrôler les projets en cours et de s'assurer qu'ils sont sur la bonne voie et respectent le budget prévu. Les livrables du projet doivent être bien gérés afin de ne pas perdre le fil de l'avancement du projet.
