Feature Enhancement Request – Text Formatting Options in Item Description (Zoho Books/Quotes Module)

Dear Zoho Development Team,

 

Greetings from

Radiant360 Integrated Technical Services LLC.

 

We would like to bring to your attention a functional limitation we've encountered within the Item Table / Quote Description section of Zoho Books (and Zoho CRM Quotes).

 

As a technical service provider , our team frequently prepares detailed scopes of work within quotations, requiring the use of bullet points , bold text , and occasionally underlining to emphasize technical notes, inclusions, and exclusions.

 

However, the current editor under the Item Details / Description field does not support basic text formatting features such as:

• Bulleted or numbered lists
• Bold or underline text options
• Paragraph spacing or indentation

 

This significantly affects the professional presentation limitation of our proposals and technical quotations, as structured formatting is crucial for clarity and readability — especially in the engineering and construction sectors where item scopes often include multiple technical parameters.

 

We strongly believe that introducing rich-text formatting (RTF) or HTML text editing capabilities within the item description field will greatly enhance usability and document quality for thousands of Zoho users globally. Such an update would:

 

1. Improve proposal readability and presentation quality.
2. Reduce the need for external document preparation before import.
3. Enhance productivity for teams by relying on detailed, multi-line technical descriptions.

 

We have attached a sample screenshot for your reference (showing how bullet formatting is currently not supported in the item description). – Those bullets were copied pasted from word.

 

 

We sincerely request your development team to consider this enhancement in an upcoming update, as it will bring immense value to businesses like ours that rely heavily on Zoho for end-to-end proposal and project documentation.
