Update (31 Mar 2021): RBI has postponed the new regulations to 30 September 2021. This post has been edited to reflect the new deadline.
Hello everyone,
Due to an RBI regulation that will be in effect from 30 September 2021 (extended deadline), recurring payments in India via all cards must require an Additional Factor of Authentication (AFA), for the payment to be successful.
Here's a gist of RBI's new regulations:
- The new regulations will come into effect from 30 September 2021, and are applicable to all types of cards and Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPI).
- Your customers must complete an Additional Factor of Authentication (AFA), when they choose to save their card information for recurring transactions.
- Your customers must be able to withdraw their AFA /e-mandate at any time.
How the new regulations will impact you:
Since the new regulations have been postponed to 30 September 2021, you and your customers will not be affected in any way until the new deadline, and Zoho Subscriptions will continue to work as normal.
What we're doing about it:
We're working closely with Razorpay to ensure a smooth transition to the new regulations for you and your customers, as soon as issuing banks have made it possible to do so.
We've also been working on new features that allow you to collect recurring payments from your customers via other payment modes, such as UPI mandates. You can expect these features to be available soon.
What you can do about it:
No further actions are required from your side.
If you've already taken any preventive measures to deal with the new regulations before they were postponed, such as disabling Auto-charge or changing your Retry Settings, you can go ahead an undo them to prevent any unnecessary changes to your business operations.
Feel free to write to support@zohosubscriptions.com if you have any questions about this.
Best regards,
The Zoho Subscriptions Team
