Video content is being increasingly consumed by the online community in the past few years. This surge in viewers and consumption has been because of various factors over the years:
- Ease of access to social media platforms and the internet
- Rise and growth of an audience for social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok where video content is being primarily liked and followed
- Increased engagement and interactions for video content in comparison with images or text
- Opportunities for monetization of content
- Expectation and interest of viewers, and the ability to share videos easily and instantly
Here are some best practices to follow while uploading your video to your social platforms through Social:
Make your video stand out
As video grows in popularity, it's important that as a business you try and stay updated with the trend and provide content that's engaging for your customers and prospects. When you want to post video content, you have to do it right! Ensure that your video holds the attention of your audience, and doesn't end up as one of the countless videos that they swipe through. Understand your audience, and write valuable content that resonates with them. Be consistent with your content schedule so you can stay connected with your audience and build relationships. Use appealing images, videos and relevant audio to enhance your content.
Elevate the quality of your content with audio
While the primary goal is to create content that stands out, you should also try and follow a pattern or method of storytelling in your video, so as to be creative and hold the attention of your audience until the end. Choose the right song to go with the video, if you're attaching audio. Most often, using trending audio for your video proves to be a great way to increase engagement for your post. Once everything is done, the cherry on the top is coming up with an apt caption describing your video and choosing the best time to post it so that it reaches the maximum audience and helps you get your desired engagement.
Choose the appropriate orientation : Vertical vs Horizontal
There has always been a debate about which video orientation will be apt for your video and which will perform better on social media platforms. There is no one format that suits all platforms, so you have to choose based on your video and the network you want to post it on. Vertical videos are ideal to be viewed on a mobile device, but they can't cover a lot of visual elements. For instance, shooting vertical won't be able to do justice to natural scenery, whereas taking a self-video can be best done vertically. Similarly, vertical videos will most probably suit platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube where you can post it as Reels, Stories, and Shorts, respectively. Meanwhile, horizontal videos are best suited for YouTube videos.
Optimize your video to suit all networks
You can use Zoho Social's
Video Optimizer if you want to upload a video that's optimized to suit all platforms, and you want to post it at the same time. This is an evolving feature of Social that will keep getting updated as the
media guidelines keep changing for different platforms. The Video Optimizer is automatically enabled for you, and it'll optimize all the videos that are uploaded to your compose window unless you disable this in Settings -> Preferences. When you want to post to multiple networks and optimize the video accordingly, there is a black background added to the background to ensure that your video can be posted at the same time to all chosen networks.
If needed, you can avoid this by ensuring that your video is in the right aspect ratio for the respective platforms and disabling the feature.

1) Uploaded a ma3 music file from Itunes. When I click on the link, i go to the page and see a music player but it doesn't play. Clicking on the play arrow does nothing.
